Optimistic high-school teacher Will Schuester tries to refuel his own passion while challenging a group of Glee Club outcasts to realize their star potential in a special preview of the Pilot episode of GLEE.
12:00pm "The Power of Madonna"
Concerned the girls are being disrespected by the guys, Will challenges the club with songs by Madonna in the hopes that her musical message of strength will serve as an inspiration; and Kurt and Mercedes give Sue a makeover.
Mr. Schuester encourages the Glee Club to express themselves using the music of Lady Gaga; Rachael has a life-changing encounter; and Tina embraces her inner Goth.
After returning from summer break, the kids discover they are still school outcasts; Will tries to recruit new Glee Club members; and Sue has a new formidable rival.
When Brittany and the gang try to convince Mr. Schuester to let them do a Britney Spears number, he is reluctant to go that edgy; an insecure Will is curious about Emma's new beau, Dr. Carl Howell, so he convinces her to bring him in to talk to the kids about dental hygiene; and the girls have nitrous-oxide-fueled Britney fantasies while Will is left feeling worse than ever.
4:00pm "Grilled Cheesus"
Finn has an existential crisis when he believes he sees the face of Jesus in his grilled-cheese sandwich; meanwhile, the kids rally around Kurt after he has a crisis of his own, leading to a larger discussion about theology.
As the Glee Club works on a competitive duet assignment, Finn and Rachel conspire to help a new member win; meanwhile, a love triangle develops between Mike, Tina, and Artie.
6:00pm "The Rocky Horror"
When Will decides to have the glee club perform The Rocky Horror Show for the annual school musical, the members of New Directions inject their distinctive style to the show's timeless tracks.
7:00pm "Never Been Kissed"
Finn and Sam find an unconventional way of controlling their urges until Coach Beiste gets wind of what they are up to; Puck returns from juvey; and Kurt stands up for himself, with unforeseen results.
8:00pm "The Substitute"
A substitute teacher (guest star Gwyneth Paltrow) fills in for Will, and wins over the whole New Directions clan; and Sue fills in for Principal Figgins, and tries to flex her power on campus.
Sue’s Nazi-hunting mother (comedy icon Carol Burnett) shows up to check in on her girls; Kurt makes an important decision; and Rachel and Finn take a big step.
10:00pm "Special Education"
New Directions heads to the big Sectionals competition to go head-to-head against Kurt and the Warblers; and Emma and Carl grow closer while trouble brews between some of the younger couples.
