While your Gaga-esque structured shoulder dress and mile-high stilettos may have the other ladies thinking “I wished my legs looked like that and her dress is to die!” there’s a good chance the guys in the room are thinking that the dress looks crazy and you look high maintenance.
Most guys say less is more. Think less Kim Kardashian and more…Cameron Diaz. His top pick for your date night is a great fitting pair of jeans, a top that reveals a hint of skin, and shoes that don’t make him feel short. Add a great jacket and some accessories to give your look a little sparkle. Then, of course, there are the shoes. If you’re going to step into the big girl heels make sure you can handle it all night. The only thing sadder than watching a girl limp unsteadily across a room in a pair of beautiful shoes is when she publicly gives in to defeat and is reduced (4+inches) to going barefoot like some transient and those perfect shoes dangle from her fingertips or are hastily stashed in some corner, a high-heeled symbol of shame. You are not Britney Spears, keep your shoes on. Footwear is a commitment. Make sure your heels, flats or boots are made for walking, dancing, and climbing fences. You never know.
Waiting 3 days to call: SERIOUSLY? Waiting three days or any other predetermined amount of time to get in touch: How long ago did Swingers come out? Are you still describing things as “money”, too? Well, STOP! It is time to end the three day myth darlings. It has been perpetuated for far too long. Letting those digits burn a hole in your pocket give the person you’re interested in that much time to a) get snatched up by someone else or b) decide that you’re just not that into them and therefore not worth their time whenever you do get around to reaching out. Treat the opportunity like you would a hot stock tip, job lead, or sale at Barney’s and jump on that right away. Let that guy or girl know that you recognize them as the hot commodity they must be if they captured your attention and you don’t plan on missing out. Now don’t get it wrong, this does not mean sending a text while you watch their reaction from across the bar or calling them from your car as you leave the parking lot. You’ll definitely look a little thirsty. Done right, calling sooner than later says you’re assertive, confident and most importantly, interested and that’s always a good look.
