Here are some great ideas for you to stay healthy while soaking up the sun. With summer here, it's a great time to take advantage of the gorgeous weather outdoors and enjoy some fun summer workouts. The same mundane activities in the gym can get boring, so change up your workout routine by getting active with friends and playing some outdoor sports.

Here are some great ideas for you to stay healthy while soaking up the sun: Swimming: On this season's Dance Your A** Off, trainer Lee had the contestants substitute swimming for their daily workout in the gym. Swimming is great exercise because it gives your body resistance and works a multitude of muscles that don't get used otherwise. It also takes away the impact of running, and can give your joints a break from pounding the pavement.

Kayaking, surfing, or paddle boarding: These outdoor activities may be fun, but they are also a great upper body workout. On your next vacation, instead of lounging all day by the beach, pool, or lake, get up and get active! You won't even realize you're getting a workout, and you're sure to use the muscles in both your arms and legs.

Tennis: Most communities have public tennis courts or parks that can be used for free or at a cheap price. Playing with friends and grabbing a healthy lunch afterwards is a great way to stay motivated and move! Have a perfect day date starting with a game of tennis or play a doubles match if you want to bring more friends along.

Bike riding: Remember how much fun bike riding was as a kid? It's a great way to clear your mind, and you'll be enjoying your surroundings while also getting a workout. It's also a great way to build up your strength and endurance while avoiding the wear and tear on your joints that running does.

Pickup games: Organize a friendly game of soccer, baseball, or basketball outside for your friends and family. You're in store for a great time AND a great workout. These games are a great way to take advantage of the summer sun and get everyone active, so plan a game or two along with your next barbeque!

No matter where you choose to be this summer, all of these outdoor activities will keep you healthy while having fun in the sun!
